Sam Matekane

The Leader

A passionate, resilient serial entrepreneur from Thaba-Tseka, Mr. Sam Matekane is the leading business magnet and epitome of excellence in the Kingdom of Lesotho. He established Matekane Group of Companies (MGC) in 1986 as Matekane Transport and Plant Hire which later evolved into a multi-sector corporation embodying aviation, property development, mining, logistics supply chain, hospitality, farming and aviation. Mr. Matekane has successfully and aggressively translated his success into employment for over 1000 Basotho, Infrastructure, CSI/CSR programs and economic growth for the benefit of the Nation. MGC is internationally recognized as experts in architecture, engineering, project management and investment. It employs state of the art technologies that have allowed it to emerge as the best of Lesotho and most probably, of the African continent. In 2020, the Leader launched Sam Matekane Foundation (SMF) which aimed at helping communities to alleviate poverty through community projects in farming. Among others, the Foundation worked to secure the health of Basotho through donation of essentials such as ICU equipment, Covid Vaccine, Testing Labs and Oxygen Plant during the Covid19 era.

Chief Justice Nthomeng Majara

Deputy Leader

CJ Nthomeng Majara is the first woman to become the Chief Justice of Lesotho. She holds a Master’s Degree in law (LL.M) from King’s College London and a Law degree from the National University of Lesotho.  Among her professional roles, she served as a Lecturer at the National University of Lesotho (NUL), a Research Associate at the Women and Law in Southern Africa Research and Educational Trust, and Head of Internal Affairs at the Lesotho Revenue Authority. She was appointed Chief Justice for the Court of Appeals in 2014 and held the position until 2019. She chaired the Commission of Enquiry on the Adoption of Children in Lesotho and became a member of the Council of State. She briefly acted as a Judge for the High Court of Namibia in 2010. She is a trustee of the Queen’s National Trust Fund.

Mr. Teboho Kobeli

Chairman

Mr. Teboho Kobeli hails from Mokhotlong district. He is founder and Managing Director, of Afri Expo Textiles, a garment factory manufacturing with specialization in denim and work wear as well as some personal protective equipment, PPEs for South African chain stores and US Markets. The factory is situated at Tikoe Industrial Area and boasts, 510 staff complement. Mr. Kobeli was schooled in both Mokhotlong and Maseru before joining the Lesotho Flour Mills as a milling trainee where he left as Head Miller in 1999. He successfully started and ran a retail business specialising on PPE (personal protective equipment) called Batlokoa Holdings trading as Kobeli Business and later opened another business called KBS Global Sourcing in China, servicing the South African, Botswana, Ethiopia and eSwatini market. Mr. Kobeli is passionate about youth development and empowerment. Since 2006, Kobeli Business Solutions (KBS) in partnership with St. James High School, Mokhotlong in hosting and sponsoring awards for best performing high school leavers.

Ms. Nthati Moorosi

Secretary General

Ms. Nthati Moorosi is an accomplished Businesswoman, Communications and Marketing Executive, Independent Consultant, Founder and Managing Director of BANLIN Communications and Development Consultancy. She has served at different executive and leadership capacities in Organizations that include the UNDP, National University of Lesotho and the Millennium Challenge Account- Lesotho (MCA-L). She holds Masters Degree in Cultural and Media Studies as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Gender Studies.  She is passionate about economic and community development. Ms. Moorosi enjoys spending some of her time empowering and mentoring youth, seeking and sponsoring essential professional healthcare and services to the elderly in her community and discovering the beauty of Lesotho through hiking. She was born and raised in Mazenod, Maseru.

Dr. Retšelisitsoe MATLANYANE

Treasurer

Dr. Retšelisitsoe Matlanyane is the immediate past Governor and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Lesotho and the first female Governor in the history of the Bank. She served various local and international professional institutions at different capacities, including as Director at African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), representative of the SADC Central Bank Governors in the Financial Stability Board Consultative Group for Sub-Saharan Africa; a Board Member of MEFMI.  She led financial sector reforms including modernization of payment systems, legislative changes that enable development of the financial system, promotion of financial inclusion, modernization and strengthening of governance structures of financial institutions and advocacy for access to finance, especially for women. Among others, she also served as an Economist in the African Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Dr. Matlanyane is also passionate about farming and food security. She hails comes from the district of Mafeteng.

Mr. Mokhethi SHELILE

An Economist by profession, Mr. Mokhethi Shelile is highly experienced in investment promotion, entrepreneurial development, and economic planning. He is currently a well sought-after consultant following his long service at the Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC) and service to institutions such as the Southern African Development Community Development Finance Center (SADC DFRC), Lesotho Development Centre, Private Sector Competitiveness Project (PC)G and Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation (BEDCO), to mention a few. Some of the achievements in his service include the institutionalization of the partial credit guarantee (PCG) scheme for local private sector, study of the regional automotive components value chain and an investment promotion strategy recognized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in 2016.

Mr. Lebona LEPHEMA

Mr. Lebona Lephema is a native of the district of Berea. He is the Founder and Managing Director of Executive Group since 1987. Among his many biggest achievements, in 2004, Executive Transport became a sub-contractor to Unitrans for fuel haulage, and in 2016, was awarded a 5-year contract to move fuel from the Engen refinery in Durban, South Africa, to their main depot in Lesotho, as well as to distribute all over the in the country. This was the first time an indigenous Lesotho company qualified for the contract that required a highly specialized service and meets very high health, safety and environmental quality standards. Under his portfolio, Mr. Lephema also runs Maluti Mountain Cement (MMC), a world class cement plant which manufactures and supplies cement, ready mix concrete as well as bricks. To date, his business empire is home to more than 550 employees. Mr. Lephema is also a big supporter and sponsor of different sporting activities. Among others, his social responsibility programs include donation of the COVID-19 Laboratory to Berea Hospital and donation of newly built houses to the destitute and vulnerable elderly members of the community.

Mr. Telang Takane

Born and bred in Berea, Mokhethoaneng, ha Jubile Mr. Telang Takane is a seasoned and passionate business veteran specializing in business automation and construction.  With a solid educational background in Marketing Management and Business Studies, Mr. Takane is the Managing Director of Maseru Business Solutions and has gained vast experience in the United Kingdom, Zimbabwe, United Arab Emirates among countries. He has a soft spot for vulnerable children. He often extends a helping hand to ensure that sporting and schooling needs of such children in different areas are taken care of.

Mr. Metsing Lemphane

Deputy Secretary General

Mr. Metsing Lemphane is an enthusiastic youth and servant leader with a passion for radical transformation and development that responds to the needs of the youth of the 21st century. He completed his BA degree in 2009 and has interests in Rugby, Environment, Museums and Academia. Mr. Lemphane has sat on several sports committees and diverse organizational boards. An avid reader, Serial Adventurer, Visionary, Futurist and Exponential Entrepreneur, his desire is to see a thriving and peaceful Lesotho where every Mosotho feels at home. He is passionate about mentorship and imparting leadership and life skills to the youth of Lesotho.

Mr. Thabo MARETLANE

Mr. Thabo Maretlane is a seasoned entrepreneur, born and bred in Leribe district. He is the Founder and Managing Director of Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village and Lodge, T Connexion Marketing and Tour as well as T Connexion Construction and Transport. He has vast experience in mining and tourism. He is not just the face, but the founder of the famed Moshoeshoe Walk (Menkhoaneng to Thaba-Bosiu), an annual event that occurs in Lesotho since 2007 and has attracted both local and international participants. He holds the rank of Public Relations Officer for SADC Arts and Culture Festivals. Mr. Maretlane has served various Sports Organizations in Lesotho as Public Relations and or Marketing Officer. These include the Lesotho Football Association and Linare Football Club. He is currently Deputy Chairman – COSAFA Commercial and Marketing Unit.
